The Procedure
You’ll visit our practice for the laser session and then get back to your day. No downtime necessary! The device emits pulses of laser light rapidly and painlessly. Dr. Castor may recommend multiple treatment sessions, spaced several weeks apart. Multiple treatments are typically required to get lasting hair reduction.
Laser hair removal works by heating up and thereby damaging individual hair follicles. Afterward, the follicle won’t produce hair. Because the laser targets the roots of hair, we’ll let you know how many weeks before your appointment you’ll need to cease plucking, waxing and electrolysis, so that the root is present at the time of treatment.
It’ll take 1-3 weeks for the treated hair to fall out. Although you will notice a reduction in hair after the initial treatment, the results get better and better with each session. You should also avoid sun exposure during this time, and be sure to wear sunscreen outside, to get the best possible results.
